Printer deployment issues

We've recently migrated our print server and upgraded to Server 2019. I'm now finding that pushing printers out via GP preferences is very unreliable and slow.

 

Some users aren't getting the printers added at all, others are getting some but not others and for others they get them all but login is very slow (the worst has been around 30 mins).

 

When checking in devices and printers they'll often be several with the status of setup in progress or something along those lines. An article said this was likely due to metadata download from Microsoft being blocked but disabling this has made no difference what so ever.

 

The drivers have been upgraded to the latest PCL6 universal driver from HP again made no difference

 

This wasn't an issue before half term and this is now starting to drive me mad

I think I've fixed it, the site below details the change needed. Turns out though I didn't understand group policy preferences as well as I thought I did. Set the registry entry to replace and it seems to work

Are you finding that users have to login twice for the printers to appear?

After that registry change they add first time I think
