Recently purchased a TV (with HDMI inputs) and soundbar (with optical audio input and also aux input) for a meeting room. The PC will primarily be used as a standalone PC, but occasionally also for presentations on the TV.

With that in mind, I don't want the sound going through the TV and then into the soundbar, because that way when the TV is off no sound will play from the PC.

I was thinking of this setup:

Monitor connected to the PC using either VGA or DP, HDMI out from the PC going into a splitter like the one below, and then a HDMI from the splitter to the TV, and either AUX from the splitter to soundbar or Optical audio from the splitter to the soundbar.

Any thoughts on this?
