I still feel the biggest hurdle to it is ironically, their own departments (as in teacher wise, not Gov). Most schools without a proper CS based set of teachers want/do teach ICT still instead of CS and then wonder why CS teachers don't want to teach it

 

How many schools are still putting things like Word/Excel into their Computing curriculums and using the exact same thing they used while teaching ICT (TeachICT springs to mind)? Lots it seems, and then wonder why teachers leave their jobs

 

Obviously it's kind of hard to stop it though as it's going to be fairly rare for a new CS teacher to be in charge of a department early on, unless lots quit at once
