Hi all,

I have finally got round to updating our Windows 10 deployment to a new release, we have a customised deployment so want to use SCCM task sequence to deploy the update to keep the customisations. I have tried to update using this method, also by using the ISO and running setup.exe and also with the original build without any additional software installed. Everytime it goes to the "windows updating" blue screen and around 48-58% it restarts and starts rolling back to the old version.

I have had a look around but I cannot find any logs that continue logging during the blue update screen. I am at the point I am thinking of just making a new build and reimaging all the computers with the new version as feel there is a problem in our existing build which I am not going to be able to find without more information.

Has anyone come across this issue before or have any ideas I can try?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Check the setuperr.log in the panther folder. If it's a shared device I'd just reimage as long as all your software is automatically pushed out and your group policy will configure settings. If you need to maintain user profiles etc then upgrade.

I checked the panther path but the logging stops about 10 minutes before the rollback happens and no errors. I have 350 shared devices I am happy to reimage but have 100+ staff laptops with offline file sync which has caused issues in the past when reimaged (ie not synced properly).

I have done some research and think a core appx package has been removed and that is preventing the CU update going through, but not sure which one and if it is even worth investigating. I guess I will start work on a new build and script in the offline file sync checks if that is possible.

Thanks,

Tom
