I'm just playing with a Smoothwall VM to revisit if I can go through our Unifi USG, so LAN - Smoothwall - USG - INTERNET

Is this the correct way to do it ? It seems to work (clients can access the internet) and traceroutes take the correct path but seems odd to me

Network is 192.168.4.0/23

I've set the Smoothwall IP as 192.168.5.252 on Internal

External I've set the IP to 192.168.5.251 and the Gateway as 192.168.5.254 which is the USG

Looks fine. What you are doing is double NAT. LAN Network is behind a NAT device, which in turn is behind another NAT device before the internet breakout point. Something that can be required depending on the router equipment available.
