[sims] NOVAT6 over RDS Remote App Session

In general we do not map the drive for SIMS anymore and use UNC path in connect.ini. Except for a couple of people who still need the drive mapped. We have an RDS Server set up to run SIMS as a Remote App for those that need to work from home. Our Timetabler would like to utilise SIMS in this way and run Focus>Nova-T6 in this way. It works fine for him on his desktop in School but will not work for him via RDS. He gets "SNOVA directory not found. Nova-T6 needs to know the location of this directory in order to run".

 

What would I need to change on the RDS install of SIMS to get this working please?

You could just do a standalone (satellite) installation of Nova-T6 on his PC?

I know, that's my next step if I can't get this working. It's more joined up if he can do it all via the RDS Remote App Session.

Try this:

Open Notepad

Enter the route to your SNOVA directory (e.g C:\SNOVA)

Save this file as NOVA.DIR (where .DIR is the file extension)

Place this file in the same folder as the NT6.exe

route to which SNOVA directory? The one on the RDS Server?

ok it that worked, sort of, it gave me an option to open dataset but none were found. I changed the route to SNOVA to point to the unc path of the SNOVA directory on the SIMS Server and that seemed to work. The Datasets appeared for me to choose from.
