Links with an overseas school

A teacher has a friend who works in a school in Thailand and we'd like to establish links between the two schools, including sending a video to them of our school and the children of the UK teacher's class. This sounds like a lovely idea and I really want to make it happen, but clearly we need to tick the right boxes with this process and not do anything that could potentially lead to a safeguarding/gdpr issue.

 

Does anyone have any experience on this subject who can push me in the right direction

 

1. What documentation do we need to think about when setting up this level of trust?

2. Do we need specific or supplemental parent permission for this kind of activity?

3. What platform do you use to chat and send videos between the schools (we were thinking of recording the video and sending a school OneDrive link to the file)

If you feel that this project would disclose personal data, particularly in a way or to people that would be unexpected, then I'd suggest that you carry out a Data Protection Impact Assessment and discuss it with your Data Protection Officer (who should have a template for a DPIA, or you can download one from the ICO website athttps://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/accountability-and-governance/data-protection-impact-assessments/

 

Whether you need parental consent probably depends on what your existing policies, in particular your photographs policy, say.
