TomHD Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 Morning All, I am looking to use an external SSD with my iPad Pro 2018. The iPad has a USB C connector and from what I read will work with any decent SSD. I am happy to buy the Apple USB C to USB dongle so the external SSD does not need to be USB C. I would also like to use the SSD as a build drive for Windows and Mac if possible? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance, Tom
Arthur Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 (edited) The iPad has a USB C connector and from what I read will work with any decent SSD. You're not going to be able to connect the USB-C SSD directly to the iPad Pro. iOS won't recognise it. You will need something to act as an intermediary like the RavPower FileHub / FileHub Plus, WD My Passport Wireless SSD or Gnarbox. As you can see from the video below (at around the mark) USB flash drives, HDDs and SSDs won't work... Edited November 27, 2018 by Arthur 1
TomHD Posted November 27, 2018 Author Posted November 27, 2018 Thanks, that wasn't really clear from what I read. I've ordered the Rav File Plus and an external SSD. Thanks for the advice
