[sims] SIMS Individual and profile reports

Hello Everyone

 

I am new to this forum as a member but i have got loads of helps from different threads in this forum. In our College we are trying to move to paperless reporting. My question is whether we can email parents' individual and profile reports from Sims using mail merge?

 

Any help/advice would be highly appreciated

I wouldn't email reports to parents given the amount of sensitive information on them - email isn't a secure platform unless you employ end to end encryption.

 

There are various parent portals available where you can publish electronic documents for parents to retrieve themselves securely, e.g. SIMS own parent app, Schoolcomms etc

Does schoolcomms have the option to send a link to a file rather than attach it?

We've just started using our messaging system - SchoolPost to do this, we print the individual reports to a PDF printer then upload to Schoolpost as a merge publication which then assigns the right files to the right pupils then sends their parents an email with a link back to Schoolpost for the attachment, if required we can set it up to require a password for that publication otherwise the link expires after 2 weeks and they have to login to view it anyway.

Yes that's i am thinking too. Does Schoolcomms offer this functionality? any idea?

A little info on how Schoolcomms handles reports from SIMS:

 

You can attach both individual and profile reports from SIMS without the need to mail merge. Once the appropriate student(s), class or year group have been selected an email is sent to the imported contacts from SIMS and attaches the appropriate report.

Thank you. Just one little question: do we need to get parent App or this?

All of our products can be accessed by parents via the app or on the web version and the school can control what is shown to parents on them.
