jmak Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 With today's school census now done and dusted [emoji51] thoughts move on to workforce census. We use SIMS as our MIS, but don't use it for personnel management as we outsource most functions to a third party. Therefore completing the workforce census usually means manually entering data reported from the third party system. I can't see any reason we *need* to use SIMS. Can anyone point me towards a general set of guidance or requirements? The guidance from our LA is a set of SIMS notes.
Ditto Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 Good job get the census done so quick! We had new pupils join in the last few days and I'll be chasing CTFs no doubt to get a UPN. Re SWF census, for the technical stuff see the following two links: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/school-workforce-census-2018-guides https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/school-workforce-census-2018-business-and-technical-specification On thing to note is that it's not purely personnel data. You'll either need to be adept with XML or in theory you I think you can enter it all manually as 'real-time' data. See the following: To be honest, it's not something I'd try - it's one of the functionalities of our MIS that I think is under-valued. 1
jmak Posted October 4, 2018 Author Posted October 4, 2018 I can't take credit for the census - we have a new and very methodical and organised office administrator. They've now worked in a school for five whole weeks! Thanks for the links - looks like we'll have to use SIMS. Just seems a shame when we already have the information recorded in a system which we use for all other personnel functions.
