Normal Projector for 88 inch Promethean ActivBoard Touch 88

Has any one any suggestion on the best projector to use for a Promethean ActivBoard Touch 88 88”. Don't want to go down the Short Throw route if possible.

Is there any particular reason why you would not want an Ultra Short Throw projector? Before we installed interactive screens, all of our boards had Ultra Short throw Epson & Hitachi projectors and they were much more practical than the older ceiling mounted units that had preceded them.

I always advise schools to install short-throw where possible too. The problem with longer throw projectors is that whenever a teacher is looking towards the class they are staring into the beam (a health and safety no-no TBH). I find it headache inducing if I accidentally look into a beam, can't imagine the pain from standing in front of one all day. There's also the issue that they cast a shadow over part of board when they're stood near it.

 

Appreciate they are more expensive, but unless there are installation issues I'd push short-throw projectors to them for the above reasons.

...I’d definitely be looking for a short throw projector...even if it cost me more. You get far les shadow...doesn’t shine in the eyes of user when they face the class....

 

Not keen on prometheans’s own UST projectors which are pretty feature less.

 

I like stuff which has a network interface that can be used to provide a connection ...from laptop...wirelessly....and with web interface for a “remote control” because the physical one gets lost.

 

We used to like epson440W until they all started to fail with the ballast unit needing replacing...

 

We then started putting in hitach 251w models...

 

...and I wouldn’t put in less than 3000lumens today as everyone likes bright images...without having to close the blinds on a nice day...

 

Quite like the specification for hitachi ax3005

 

Usually these short throw projectors come with their own wall mounts...

+1 Epson. We’ve standardised to them. Access to ASM portal for self service warranty. Brilliant.

I think that the Hitachi & Epson UST projectors that we had installed previously were around 2600/2700 lumens, and they were very good indeed.

I think that the Hitachi CP-AW25 is around the £650 mark at the minute and it's a 2700 lumens projector, so should be absolutely fine.

The Epsons are a bit more expensive, the current model is an EB675wi (I think), which is 3000ish lumens and is around £1,000, although if they are anything like the older Epson units that we had, worth every penny.
