So many things are really easy to hack that the fact that they're not shows that people are generally not evil

 

Same with not being run over by people in cars, or poisoned. It's only one in 10 million or so

No one ever turns off electricity, even if you don't pay, pointless thing to worry about. And if they do just unplug the meter and connect directly.

 

If you're that worried just make your own electricity at home for free

 

Have to say, that's not been my experience. Years ago when I was on the dole and lived in a grotty bedsit, I returned home one day to find the wires to my meter had been cut and bent over and taped up. Not a happy bunny

Getting back to topic, I've been with Ebico for almost 10 years. Ebico was the UK's first 'Not-for-profit' energy supplier, with an emphasis on supporting those affected by fuel poverty.

 

Customer service is first rate; I've never had to wait more than about 5 rings to have my call answered - by a human!

My elderly mother uses ebico coz they let her pay quarterly by cheque without slapping some ridiculous surcharge on ("Just like I used to with the Electricity Board")

The difference between you and Mike O’Brien, however, is that in 2008 Mike O’Brien was Minister of State for Energy at the newly-created, Ed Miliband-led Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), which launched Britain’s smart meter revolution - the biggest and most expensive in the world.

 

It is an IT project which will not meet either its 2020 deadline or its £11bn budget. That seems certain....

How can you calculate how much it's saved when it's in year 5 of a 50 year scheme?
