BOOT Posted July 12, 2018 Author Posted July 12, 2018 That's one method I suppose... I'm using Group Policy to set file permissions on the shortcuts in: C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group1\ C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group2\ C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group3\ Since scrapping roaming profiles, a lot of things are working well now.
DSapseid Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 I found that just setting the permissions on the Run & Search shortcuts in the Group2 folder to my students security group to deny and it hid everything.
sonofsanta Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 I'm hiding the Group2 and Group 3 folders, but now wondering why Shut down or sign out has disappeared from my Win+X menu too, seeing as that's in Group1. Logged on as admin, with the full Win+X menu, the option is there but there's no shortcut for it in the Group1 folder, so I don't know how it gets there to work out how it disappears for users
BOOT Posted July 12, 2018 Author Posted July 12, 2018 With my setup I'm not hiding any folders or shortcuts, just removing the Users ACL entry on the shortcut files. I'm not setting Deny read or anything.
