Wine is 25 years old

No not the stuff you drink, WINE as in Wine Is Not an Emulator. It has been 8 or 9 years since I last used WINE but it was very useful getting ancient Windows programs that teachers reckoned they couldn't do without, when Linux was introduced across the site. One particular suite of science simulations ran better on WINE than Windows. On Windows, there was one simulation which would crash the PC and the students would access this so they could talk with their mate for 5 minutes while the PC rebooted. Under WINE, absolutely nothing happened when students accessed this. We in IT, were not the students friends when they found out.

Me and my mates use WINE to play the steam version of AOE2 on our Macbooks, works great. Also use it for Dance eJay 2005 on the music iMac's , runs better than it did when we had Windows workstations, use to do nothing but crash when on Windows, hardly ever when on WINE.
