[1709, fcu] Onedrive & Files on Demand

Trying to get my head around Files on Demand. I can't for the life of me get it to work on anything but a local profile and there's no way I'm going down that route.

How have people got this working so far? It doesn't even show up in the navigation pane of file explorer for me

All enabled in GPO, confirmed that GPO is applying, SSO & silent set up all apparently working...

it seems to install on first login, check again today, i was pulling my hair out trying to figure out where it had gone

This is doing my bloody nut in, why is something so simple so ruddy overcomplicated? No reason at all why they should have to throw the files in the localappdata, meaning it's unusable for mandatory profiles. Now having to trial a local profile instead and still the client isn't bloody working. $£$&*(!!!

We actually switched to local profiles - it's made our login times super quick and MS seem to slowly be dropping more and more support for roaming/mandatory profiles nowadays.

Yeah that's not a major problem, however having onedrive effectively reinstall itself every login is just batcrap crazy. MS need to sort themselves out >:|

Yeah, I've rolled out OneDrive to our staff laptops since they use their own laptops 99% of the time, for the couple of shared Desktop areas we have I tell them to use the OneDrive link on their desktop to take them to the web app.

 

Students are still on folder redirection for us :/

We've recently deployed Windows 10 and OneDrive Files On Demand to one of our ICT suites and it appears to be working quite nicely for us at the moment.

As part of our OSD we deploy a later version of OneDrive than what is included on the OS.

In that room we have set students to use Local Profiles.

When the user logs on - OneDrive automatically logs on ... It does take about 1 minute before they are on and it also causes the screen to flash once its logged in. However the files on demand seems to be working well. Sure does save on HDD space on some of our staff machines where they have several GB of files.

Still need to do some testing but so far we are quite happy with it.
