SpuffMonkey Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Looking at replacing my home media streamer - the Vero 4K looks pretty good - anyone got one? What do you think?
Dos_Box Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 It seems a bit poorly specced tbh. No USB 3.0, only 2GB RAM. Many no name boxes out there seem to offer better. What features are you after?
SpuffMonkey Posted April 25, 2018 Author Posted April 25, 2018 Mostly just streaming across the network (preferably by just browsing to shared folders rather than having to run a backend) - but I'm after an up to date set of codec support - my current one doesn't support 265 - and its being used increasingly. Thought this sounded a little bit future proof and a bit better spec than buying a Raspberry and bodging it myself. Happy to look at any alternatives you can recommend.
Dos_Box Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 I just buy no brand stuff from Gear Best tbh. This looks a pretty good buy and has a good write up (bearing in mind the price point @£54.66) - https://www.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_607542.html?wid=1433363 As long as you are not after high end audio decoding I may just indulge myself. My current box was obtained from Gear Best and is powering a tv in my bedroom. I got it very cheap on clearence as I only needed one that could do 1080p. It was £23 IIRC. https://www.cnx-software.com/2016/09/09/beelink-gt1-4k-tv-box-review-part-1-unboxing-and-teardown/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSlSC_ujXKc 1
