tj2419 Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 We are soon going to be migrating over to Netsweeper with schools broadband. I was wondering if there are any other schools that have already made the switch and use a Ruckus controller. With the new setup it appears we need to get our BYOD users to install a certificate before they can use the wireless. I am intrigued to find out how people have got this set up? Is it working well? To help me get ours set back up after the migration. We were using the RADIUS server on Lightspeed to authenticate but I don't believe we can do this anymore? Thanks 1
fiza Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 We are in the same position so would be interested in how you proceed. If anyone has any good instructions that they give to their byod users I would be interested in taking a look. The problem we have is we get visitors in the evenings when no one IT savvy is around and they want to connect into the wifi. Before Netsweeper and SSL we just gave them the guest wifi password and it all worked. The automatically got the default filtering policy.
IrritableTech Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Our intention is probably to deliver the users to a “thank you for signing in now please install this certificate” page. You can do this through ruckus quite easily. Different devices might deal with that in different ways though. We’re keeping a close eye on the user authentication to netsweeper which we hope will develop before Easter

Also what are you doing about getting Proxy settings onto the devices? My understanding is that Android devices have to be done manually whereas IOS can be done by pushing out WPAD/PAC file?
IrritableTech Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 I’m not at work (snow day) but the wlan settings allow for a ‘once the user has logged in send them to their original request or here...’ The same page can offer the info for the proxy in case wpad doesn’t implement. We’re just about to scrap our ruckus for Unifi and will be moving from lightspeed over the same holiday - so our users are going to be very confused! 1
IrritableTech Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Actually it is in the hot spot service settings (or at least it is on our old firmware) now I've had chance to log in. Start Page

After user is authenticated,

redirect to the URL that the user intends to visit.

redirect to the following URL:

1
fiza Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Thanks. I'll have a look on Monday. Snow day here today!!

tj2419 Posted April 3, 2018 Author Posted April 3, 2018 Also after any tips from anyone that has got a working byod network using ruckus and netsweeper please.
whartomt01 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Did anyone get any further with this at all. Anyone using Radius with Netsweeper from Schools BB.
ticktock Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. We are migrating to Netsweeper from Lightspeed with BTLS (a giant leap backwards IMHO). We use Radius (on Ruckus) with lightspeed and it works seamlessly. We were promised help with this from BTLS but they don't wan't to know and have no idea what I'm talking about.
