My220x Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Hey all, I want to build a couple of computers and install Linux and run my own little network so I can practise. Now, I don't have the money to go out and buy all the stuff and was wondering if any of you guys will kindly give me old hardware you don't need. I need everything really: Motherboards RAM CPU Hard Drives Graphics Card Video Card Cases Optical Drives - CD, DVD etc Cables, IDE, Monitor etc Keyboard Mouse Monitor Networking Stuff. Hubs, Switches etc My Dad said he is willing to pick up from Rickmansworth, Bushey, Harrow and Watford. If possible I would like to pick up a few stuff when I collect not just one or two things. You will really be helping me in my studies, thanks.
kmount Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 I've certainly got a several of all of that you're welcome to. We're not anywhere near those places, but its up to you whether 1 journey to get everything from the list is worth it, or we could look at pony express couriering? The PCs (and there's plenty of them) are all P3 667Mhz's with 512MB of RAM and various sized HDDs and I can find CD/DVD drives. They are all in RM Accelerator style cases (desktop) and can be bundled with Keyboard/Mouse for completeness. Got plenty of 15" monitors (all crt I'm afraid) and an assortment of networking kit from media converters, an ISDN cisco router, isdn netgear router etc. Contact me if you're interested, half term this week so it would be good to know.
