FN-GM Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Hello, Is there a network edition of cubase please? At the moment we have to activate each machine one by one and it is a nightmare! thanks
Steve21 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Aren't you using the elicenser? If so once it's done once it'll auto renew itself any time you reinstall. Steve
FN-GM Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 What is the elicenser please? Is it something that runs on our server or something? Thanks
mpye Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 The elicenser can be a hardware(USB dongle) or software based protection system. As far as I am aware you do have to license each individual workstation
FN-GM Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 Thanks, We do have a licence for each machine and they activate via the internet, we don't use a dongle. Thanks
FN-GM Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 Im confused as to what the elicencer is please? Is it an on-site licence service you install on a local server pleasE?
Steve21 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 It's local on the machine, but if you're using the USB/dongle option it'll auto re-activate after you reinstall machine etc as the software looks for the dongle instead of going outwards. I did have a bit of luck in the past using the software version, but you have to then redeploy that everytime after re-imaging which got messy really. How are you currently doing it as the only two ways to do it was usb or soft e-licensers unless they changed it? :s Or are you using the soft one just doing manual installs via internet every time? Steve
FN-GM Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 Hello, We are using the soft e-licenser. It is a pain because we have to visit each machine after a re-image and its very time consuming. I was after a better way. Thanks
davethetekkie Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 (edited) We have USB eLicensers... they work well enough but do require their own software which iirc on our version don’t have a .msi installer (annoying when Cubase itself deploys quite nicely). Saves having to re-license but you have to make sure the dongle is well secured (ours are on some Startech USB header-USB A socket adaptors cable tied to the chassis internally). Steve21 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 The dongles are about £15~ each if you don't have any, but they should have come with the install discs originally for all the main Steinberg packages (Not VST addons). Take it no little blue USBs lying around that anyone might have forgotten? There used to be a way to copy over the soft license code between re-images, but think they broke that as it bases it on system IDs now which change. Can try tomorrow to find to see if I still have a copy of my BAT that did the soft elicenser deployment and config. Steve 1
FN-GM Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 That would be handy, thanks. USB isn't an option really, we use all in one machines so can't really hide them. Thanks
Steve21 Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 Sorry forgot to update here, I tried it on a newer version of eLicenser and it doesn't seem to work anymore Steve 1
mdrabble Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 (edited) I had to put some firewall rules and proxy exceptions in to get eLicenser working correctly. I had to add the following to my smoothwall authentication exceptions and IE proxy exceptions *elasticbeanstalk.com;*elicenser.net;52.51.178.116;52.213.170.126;212.79.59.34 Edited March 15, 2018 by mdrabble
