4Matrix Webserver

Our school uses 4Matrix. They have recently released a Beta version call infinity which needs to use a webserver setup within school. They have also dictated the day they want to install and a list of requirements. Is it me (please tell me if it is!) or should this software be hosted online (the way that most other providers seem to be going). I am being perceived as awkward at school for even suggesting it and have been told "just get on with it". Any opinions/advice gratefully accepted.

Not heard of that version, we also use 4matrix. It may be something as simple as making it easier for data protection reasons, keeping the data on-site.

Fair enough. Just seemed odd when everything else is moving to the cloud but this seems to be going the other way.

It's only a first release that's basically the pretty web GUI not the entire program in the cloud

 

This will allow teachers to use the key features of 4Matrix from home using an iPad or equivalent. It will link with the existing 4Matrix database, meaning that all sensitive data will continue to remain in school. The system is accessible from all major web-browsers and mobile devices including iPads. The first release includes tools across all key stages - for example, Progress 8, EBacc, Press Release and 'Assessment Without Levels' data entry. It will also include some brand-new features, including a seating plan tool, with some significant web developments planned for release at BETT 2018.

 

There's no removing the main program aspect "currently" so is still mostly needing the on-site parts

I asked them at BETT when they planned to go web based and they didn't have an answer. Hopefully soon.

Yay, another crossover with other software. So many systems in place and they're pretty much all starting to cross over with eachother's functionality. A zen diagram detailing these would be a right complicated affair.

We use 4Matrix and allow staff to access it as a remoteapp. That way they can already access it from home via any reasonable size device.

Have they released a cloud version yet? Installing web servers seems very 1990s

4Matrix Infinity is a web application that connects to a schools existing 4Matrix database to provide some, but currently not all, features from the full desktop client. Until all features from the desktop client have been implemented in the web app, it is recommended that schools install Infinity locally as 4Matrix do not currently provide a fully hosted solution. 4Matrix does however, supports Microsoft Azure. This allows you to setup your database and web app in the cloud, whilst retaining full control over your data and who can access it.
