This has been saving me a lot of trouble this week after my home NAS main drive developed problems and failed.

The failure meant that the mirrored drive had the OS (Linux) partition corrupted and wouldn't boot. The NAS wanted to setup afresh on it and wipe everything!

This great app runs within Windows and is a lot easier to use and more reliable than the other Linux file system Windows drivers you can get.

It is also designed for you to recover files from the mounted drive easily.

It has been mentioned a couple of times in passing on the forums, but I feel it needs flagging a bit more.

Still, 1.5TB over a USB 2.0 3.5" disk caddy isn't exactly motoring and I'll have to get myself a USB 3 one I think

I've also used it to read files from a NAS successfully. Diskinternals also produce other useful utils such as RAID recovery. I've used their software to recover stuff from a teacher's failing external disk too.
