ICT Audit

As an academy I'm curious to know if any other academies out there still have an ICT Audit from their local authority? Or do you use an external provider/peer from another academy?

 

We used to have the local authority audit and it would be due around now, so I'm interested to see what other academies do.

What sort of Audit is it? We didn't have any in the LA Maintained days.

Basically a full audit of ICT services and procedures. The last one we had checked the security/backups/updates and general housekeeping done by the ICT team. It was wholly directed towards the ICT support side of things to make sure good practice (in their eyes!) was being followed.

Didn’t have that when we were LA. We had an audit by an IT company (their MD) come in (arranged by the HT) to get an understanding of what funding we really needed. Turns out we did need everything we were asking for and so the school finally agreed to spend the money (1 year only) made my predecessor quit over the way the HT handled it. No trust in us then and wasted money checking what we were saying was true. Haven’t had one since, seems they trust us now (plus new HT).

I should also say, we have other schools IT teams round to see our setup and share ideas, likewise I visit other local schools to see their setups and share ideas. So if we were doing something badly wrong it would be picked up.

Yeah I think that’s a more useful option to us instead of the local authority who always seem to have a hidden agenda!
