Sheridan Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Anyone else using the Meritec Groupcall Xporter for exporting cpoms data? We have been for a while now but one of the main reports (gcx_meritec_students) will not run anymore - it simply hangs SIMS, and the Xporter console times it out after several hours of running. It was working ok and all other reports (including various other groupcall xporter reports are working OK) Of course Meritec says its SIMS, and Capita say its Meritec ;-) Its running on a VM with 65GB ram and 2*8 core processors and performance isn't an issue - besides it was running on the VM well before it decided to fail. Anyone got any ideas? If meritec themselves don't have any suggestions then I'm stuck! 1
forkies Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Had something similar with another product that used Xporter, rang Groupcall who Support Xporter and they where very helpful. The fix was to run database diagnostics in Sims. And then run validate memberships which took about 45 minutes.
Sheridan Posted January 10, 2018 Author Posted January 10, 2018 Cheers. Might give that a try. Problem is I exported the affected report, deleted it and tried to reimport it and its not appearing in the list of reports! Ah well, it wasn’t working anyway [emoji51]
Sheridan Posted January 11, 2018 Author Posted January 11, 2018 I've run the diagnostics and validation and it only took a few minutes. All checked out ok but the report still hangs. As the people who supplied the report can't help I've just uninstalled the damn thing as when it runs it causes loads of database timeouts for the other SIMS users! Thats the problem, its Capita/Meritec/Groucall all saying its each others issue!
GREED Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Hi. Graham here, Head of Products at Groupcall. Have you given us a ring yet about this?
Sheridan Posted January 11, 2018 Author Posted January 11, 2018 I've got a case open with everyone at the minute! It seems like the actual report that runs is hanging - which explains why the xporter job hangs. Running the report in realtime in SIMS also hangs so I'm not sure how to proceed, the report was presumably installed with the meritec xporter job?
GREED Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 I have just made our Xporter development team aware, I do not believe it has reached them yet but they are in the loop.
GREED Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Update: out development team have now seen the case that you've logged with Groupcall and they'll call you shortly to get a remote session to look into this with you. As the report is hanging inside SIMS too it might be that you need to do some additional SIMS database maintenance over what you have already done, but we'll check first on the remote to ensure that's the best option. Regards
Sheridan Posted January 11, 2018 Author Posted January 11, 2018 Its definitely the report causing it - once started it leaves a job running which I have to kill in the SQL Server activity monitor - otherwise anyone making a simple change gets a timeout error
