Education microsoft training

Does anybody know whether Microsoft have any sort of discount scheme for educational establishments for their training?

 

I presume not, but we are struggling for training here due to the cost of it all.

I'd like to know the answer to this aswell Andi, but my hunch is that noone is going to discount MS training enough to fit into most schools' measly training budget - if indeed they have a training budget for IT. Unless the money is available for a project and the training is absolutely essential. Otherwise you might want to look at whether you're LA are running MS courses in house that are more affordable. The options will be more limited e.g restricted to the main products such as Windows Server 2003, Exchange 2003/2007.

I would recommend you either check out your local college, for example our local college offers MS training up to MCSA level (sometimes MCSE level) for £350 per module, which is alot cheaper than private training companies. Another option is to see if your place can become a Microsoft Academy.

 

Or if your school as a MS agreement with software assurance, buy the MS Press Self-Paced Training kits and work thru that. Once you've worked thru them, but something like Preplogic or Boson test sims to test your knowledge.

I managed to get some courses for my MCAD from last minute microsoft training. (Welcome to LastMinuteMicrosoftTraining.co.uk). It seems they sell courses from the big training companies cheaper than the big companies themselves!

 

Thinking of upgrading to the new qualifications now - but it's still pretty pricey.

They don't even give any indication on where in London the trianing venue is.

It turns out they're an like a travel agency - they don't actually provide any of the training themselves.

 

My course was with QA in Swindon. nice setup, good lunches :-)

We are a private school so no LEA to help us in that respect. Will check out some of the other links though.
