[Smoothwall] Identifying "Default users" using RADIUS

Can Smoothwall pull account information of users already authenticated to an AAA server via a third-party Captive Portal? We already authenticate guests on our Guest WLAN via RADIUS. I have configured Smoothwall as a Client on the AAA server, but the reports still show IP-based "Default Users" in reporting instead of the AD account with which that client is authenticated. Have I missed some part of the RADIUS configuration? Does Smoothwall need to also authenticate clients through RADIUS in order to match up the accounts?

You need to forward the accounting information from your RADIUS server to your smoothwall. I haven't done it myself so don't know the specifics but if you are using Windows NPS(RADIUS) you will have to create a Remote RADIUS Server Group, to which you can add your smoothwall IP address.

After doing so you will have to modify your Connection Request Policy - Settings tab - Accounting - Tick "Forward accounting requests to this remote RADIUS server group".

 

Your smoothwall should then receive the RADIUS authentication requests. You can troubleshoot your smoothwall by using the BYOD Functionality test under System - Diagnostics.
