[sims] PGCE Access to Class List/Register etc

Morning All,

 

First let me say I don't normally get involved with timetables etc at all so might be missing an obvious one, but seems I have got dragged into it this year.

 

We have a new bunch of PGCE students who apparently last year had full SIMs access including timetables/classes assigned to them (and showing on homescreen as their classes) etc so they also had full access to SMHW as this sync'd all their data across. I was under the impression they only had access to registers by browsing to a class of another teacher and as such it won't work with SMHW etc, but I'm told this wasn't the case.

 

Now the "old" PGCE students which apparently could do this aren't ticked as a "teaching staff" in employment details so SMHW etc won't sync them as teachers and only staff members. In SysMan they're assigned as Employee and Agent (Not Teacher/User as other staff), but have Class Teacher/Attendance Operator as Groups.

 

Am I missing an obvious thing here, or is it possible for them to do all that's been requested even with those limitations? (Not Teaching Staff ticked in main SIMs and Not Teacher/User Role in Sysman)

Sounds like the students were added to the classes as an additional teacher/member of staff in order to allocate them a timetable if that is really how it worked.

 

In regards to Show My Homework, you just need to go to the staff members section, edit those required and then just make them teachers by adjusting the slider.
