We're looking for an IT Apprentice to join our Desktop Support team at Havering College.

The apprenticeship leads to a Level 3 qualification and many opportunities to work with new technology in a large network using a wide variety of platforms (Windows, Mac, Chromebooks etc.)

  • 36 hours a week 52 weeks per year
  • Fixed term for 18 months
  • Salary £7,020 per annum

 

Working in a small team and responsible to the Desktop Support Team Leader on a day to day basis, the function of this post is to assist in the support and maintenance of all Information and Learning Technology based equipment and services. This includes college PCs, Macs, printers, peripheral devices and IT based Audio Visual equipment and services as well as commercially contracted services.

This is a good opportunity to gain experience in ICT 1st and 2nd line duties and develop the necessary skills to start a career in ICT support. The post holder will receive appropriate staff development, both formal (through sponsored day release) and on-the-job training (through job shadowing and supervised activities). Satisfactory progression through the planned training programme is essential and will form a major part of ongoing appraisal.

 

The successful candidate must be customer focussed and flexible as they will be required to work under pressure at times to deliver a high level of service. The post is on an annualised-hours basis and you will be required to travel to our three campuses in Harold Hill, Hornchurch and Rainham when necessary.
