[sims] Changing times on Timetable

Hi guys,

 

We currently have a "duty" period" first (D1), then Reg1, then ino lessons etc.

I want to remove D1 and extend Reg1.

Currently D1 is 08:20 - 08:35

Reg 1 is 08:35 - 09:00

 

I want Reg1 to be 08:15 - 09:00.

 

Am I right in assuming I must:

 

1) Create a *new* timetable cycle in SIMS (Tools > Academic Management > Define Timetable Cycle) - perhaps have it start after half term for example? This new cycle would remove D1 and adjust Reg1 timings.

2) Remove D1 from T6 - then send the timetable over AFTER new timetable cycle is applied

 

I'm going from memory here so it might be completely wrong - let me know guys!

I would create a new version of the timetable without D1 in T6 and then define the period times in T6 (Tools > Define Period Times). Then from T6 chose Data > Export Timetable Cycle to SQL, before finally sending across the new timetable via the usual Data > Export Curriculum and Timetable to SQL.

Thanks for this @ajp233 - can't say we've used the period times option in T6 before; I thought that was all defined in the Timetable cycle screen in SIMS - won't a new timetable without D1 and different timings in NOVA, when sent, upset the defined cycle that exists in SIMS (and which will also be different)?

That's why after making changes to the cycle in Nova-T6 you have to first 'Export Timetable Cycle to SQL' before sending the new timetable to SIMS.

It should.

Do it at half-term, make a backup and test.

Things that could be affected would be future absences and cover. Potentially future timetable changes already planned.
