How do i automatically map a network drive for every user that logs onto a mac?

Hello,

 

We have 12 macs in our art department that need access to a network share which can be accessed by PCs around the school. How do i mount a network share so when any pupil logs onto the macs they will be able to see the network share?

Use profile manager and push the settings from there on an Apple Server.

Easiest is to use profile manager if you have that set up. If not then the long hand way on each mac is as follows:

In the finder menu of the mac choose go>connect to server. Then type in smb://(full path of the share you want). Click connect and it mounts on the desktop. Then open System preferences>users and groups and go to the log in items tab. Drag the icon of the share from the desktop to this window. Log out and it should then mount on the desktop each time. If you use screen sharing on the mac and the others macs are accessible via a network you can do all from one mac. (Screen sharing is in system>library>coreservices>applications).
