Linked Documents blank in Office 2016 on W10?

On our new W10/office 2016 Pro PCs, the Linked Documents (from several years past!) are opening as blank files - well, not blank as they show the template format etc but the grades and comments aren't showing?

 

After a small panic attack we realised the files open fine in W7/Office 2013 so it seems to be just our latest W10 imaged PCs - question is, whats causing it? Word 2016 is the default program to open the xml files. I'm hoping we don't need to revert back to Office 2013!

Odd, still can't find a reason for this - we can't open properly any previously generated reports in Linked Documents as grades are missing from the tables.

 

I'm not sure whether this is W10 or Word 2016 causing issue so I'll have to roll a couple back.

Ok,I think I've sorted this - if your Linked Reports stop displaying correctly, then remove Word 2016 update KB4011039 - it worked for me!
