Google Forms Issue

Hi All

 

I've got a pupil survey in Google forms and the kids have been using a QR code to access and respond. However, when I look at the responses, I've got double the amount I should have.

 

Looking at the data in a spreadsheet I've got duplicate rows of responses, but the timestamps are a second or two different. I know they are duplicate as a lot of them have a 'comments' column filled in i.e. the text matches.

 

Has anyone got any advice for the best way to deal with this, save from manually deleting the duplicate rows, as I can't figure out a spreadsheet formula that would do it for me.

If it helps, this is likely caused by people double-clicking the submit button. You should teach kids not to do that. Almost nothing on the web requires more than a single click and double-clicking everything can cause all sorts of problems.

 

To fix your problem you can use the Remove Duplicates option in Excel but you'd need to remove the timestamp column as it won't be the same.

I think I may have found a workaround. I've added a field to the form asking the user to enter in a number of their choosing. I figure its unlikely that independent users submitting a form at the same time are going to choose the same number, so I'm going to use this field to flush the duplicates.
