clareq Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Recently (since I changed SMB on our servers, but I don't think it's related) students are having intermittent issues saving Word documents on our Macs - when they type in a file name and press save the name of the document returns to 'Document 1' and hasn't saved. They can save the file as 'Document 1' onto desktop, rename it and then drag it into My Docs. The fact it allows saving sometimes, and also allows them to drag the file into My Documents causes me to discount SMB as the issue, but I have no idea what the issue actually is. We are using Office 2016, and El Capitan.
SamanthaD Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 If I remember correctly it depends on how you've set your users home drive. We used to have to tell the students to click the "On My Mac" button in the Save dialogue box in order to get their "My Documents" folder up before saving.
clareq Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 They can see their home drive, and the documents within it, before they try and save, within the save dialogue.
clareq Posted July 4, 2017 Author Posted July 4, 2017 More information - no error messages if I try and save as a docx or doc - the save dialogue just opens up again. Saving as rtf gives an error message that there is not enough space to save the document, saving as odt works.
