anyone playing it?

no, but I've read good things about it, so put it on my missus' Amazon wishlist as she hasn't played any of them but likes other Japanese RPGs she played on GC and PS3, so I'd be quite interested in people's thoughts.

its a definite time sink(im ~58 hours in and i dont think im close to finishing it) . It starts (or at least for me) slowly then it grabbed me and its hard to stop playing it (i think Tuesday was the first day since it came out i diddnt). There are point in the game where i wish there was an autoplay though as you literally have no choice (apart from the odd bit of dialogue) but most of the time your biggest issue is i have umpteen things to do (raise stats, get cash (though thats not hard) and do the actual story/side stories).

id say take notice of the spinning head and take your time but try and do places in as few visits as you can (you have limited number of in game days to use so completing a palace in 3 (often minimum) visits will give you more time to do other stuff than doing it in 6 (esp as a palace visit uses a whole day rather than most activities that use 1/2 a day). Its also worth trading money for time (sort of you can make skill points count as double but it costs cash (i did find one way of doing it so that i came out a few hundred yen a time better off but it depends what skill points your after)

 

also as soon as you can get sp regen items as that means you can spend longer in palaces at a go

 

also also always have an unread book in your inventory

well i think ive about caught up to the real time in the game rather than the flashback portion. so about 80 hours in got wisdom and charm maxed out (slightly annoying you need max wisdom to do some side missions and part of the reward for doing them is wisdom lol and i keep getting more from pop quizzes) kindness/guts at 4 proficiency at 3. got quite a few of the confidants up to max level and had to turn most of them down as i was already in a relationship with Ann(i was tempted to see what happens if you try and get into a 2nd relationship but they always pop up after i havent saved in far too long to risk finding out in one case id done over 2 hours yesterday without saving lol).

 

Its a good job its not set in the harry potter universe as i doubt that beheading a unicorn would go well for me there lol and ive done it at least once. For a blind play-through i think ive done fairly well not going to get everything done but im not sure thats possible. There have been some point where ive wanted to shout at the screen for not giving me options i think are right in one case i thought i should of gone after a character but i couldnt for example
