Small school MIS

Please can someone recommend a cost effective option for a very small school MIS as new place has nothing but spreadsheets and word docs!!!?

By cost effective, I assume you mean cheap?

 

None of them comes particularly cheap and I am afraid you have to bite the bullet and decide what are your non-negotiables and pay for them.

 

What does your school actually need?

 

Hosted onsite or in the cloud? (What state are your servers in versus what's your broadband speed?)

 

Basic student records?

Grades and assessment data?

Behaviour data?

Safeguarding data?

Reports to parents?

Parent contact?

Fees (independent school)?

Census?

 

Until your school knows what it actually needs and will use then recommendations won't make much sense.

Pupils on-roll can have a huge effect on price, as well as what @elsiegee40 said.

 

There are offerings from free to bargain bucket but they won't do returns so best for independent or internationals.
