Hi,

Today I went to go and test our mac server dns because page loading was extremely slow.

When I went to Network Utility > Lookup then typed in a domain but it came back with a lovely error.

Lookup has started...

speedtest.net -> The operation couldn't be completed.
(kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 2.)

Any help would be amazing.

Thank you

What are your DNS settings showing as within System Preferences->Network->Advanced?

If you're using internal DNS (e.g. a Windows box running DNS) have you tried changing the DNS servers to known good external ones (e.g. 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4)?

Have you tried pinging the domain to see if it resolves it to an IP? Can you lookup any other domains?

Check your proxy settings and ping your proxy, if you have one, to make sure the server can reach it.

It's also worth searching your logs for 'kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork' to see if you can find any more detailed information about the cause.
