Whilst I love the fact of ad sync I have came across a problem whereby a staff user account was synchronised however for whatever reason it's used an exchange alias instead of his logon and which alias is wrong anyway and used the wrong alias and put them together for his office 365 login and I can't delete the account because it's synced

Don't quote follow what you are saying. You can change a sync username using the following Office 365 power shell command:

 

set-msoluserprincipalname -newuserprincipalname [email protected] -userprincipalname [email protected]

I know I must sound like a nutter but that thats whats happened I will have a look at your ps script and hopefully that will do the trick
