New Sims?

Smoke and mirrors. I've heard whispers for ages that SIMS is about to be replaced with a new 'cloud' based MIS system. Much as Progresso was due to replace Facility CMIS. Note the word WAS there. So where are we? Has anyone heard anything new on this? Any time frames?

 

Happy to hear any gossip, rumors or gut feelings on when and if this might happen.

They'll say\demo something at this years BETT. In terms of when you'll get it? Well when did you adopt SOLUS3? I was rolling it out what, 5 years ago and that just installs a few pieces of software. So how long do you wait for it to be "stable" before you roll it out when its mission critical and everything changes? Serious question.

 

I've heard rumours the main reason they've developed it was because their biggest customer threatened to ditch them, so if that's the case, you've got to ask how many stupid user requirements got in.

Ive heard nowt on this, our SIMS support people are pretty good and they would let us know if it was the case. I know they arent a fan of the hosted SIMS platform at present.

Anything mentioning Next Generation is I assume the new sims.

 

Sounds good from some of the posts he's made. I'm guessing we will know more after BETT.

 

The industry is going towards cloud hosting, its a no brainer really.

We were told 2022 was the end date of the current version of SIMS .

 

Having played with the next generation of SIMS it will be interesting to see what Capita bring to BETT.
