Hi all,

Just after a bit of advice on how other schools have monitoring software configured for different users. We are using Impero (fairly new to it, though I'm sure this applies to all programs) and have it installed on all school owned devices, regardless of who will be using it, with all policies turned on.

However, members of the SMT have requested it be turned off on their accounts as they are dealing with 'sensitive issues regarding students' along with other school matters (staff, for example) which they don't want to be flagged on. Despite being aware of such issues happening, they have so far only been flagged for things like 'basement', 'sorry for bombarding you' or emails from the DFE containing words in radicalisation policies. Overall, they are some of the lowest flagged users.

A small number of people (2 currently, myself included) review the violations flagged and report any issues to the DSL. We are aware of the confidential nature of such things and don't share any information other than what would be needed for investigations to take place. We are both against turning policies off for these users, partially from the new KCSIE requirements and partially in the possible position of inspectors coming into school and asking why certain staff members are excluded. Another reasoning we can think of is should an email be sent to a non-SMT about an issue, it would be flagged up anyway. We also have it currently that access to their screens is auto-deny, but this doesn't stop screenshots being recorded.

So, how do you do it, or are we just being overcautious?
