garym2000 Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 (edited) Hi, Looking to deploy TuxType (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tuxtype) via group policy, it's an exe rather than an msi download. Does anyone have any preferred methods for deploying software such as this please. New to the forum by the way ! Regards Gary Edited February 19, 2008 by garym2000
Ric_ Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I seem to remember just packaging it up like normal - I cannot remember since I'm on holiday for a change and cannot be bothered remoting in.
flyinghaggis Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 (edited) The program can actually be run by multiple users at the same time from a shared mapped drive so you don't actually need to package/deploy it to make it available. That's how we run it at our school. Given there's no registry changes or shared dlls/etc packaging it should just be a simple case of adding the install folder and files in it to a straightforward MSI (In the even that you decide you want to use it off network or dont want the extra traffic/overhead of a mapped drive).
