Can't decide what's more funny, the idea that people are shocked that someone like Capita could let an SSL certificate expire or that they think they would do DevOps.

 

Also just to confirm:

 

> SSL certificate expired over the weekend (Sunday?)

> Renewed SSL certificated was issued a week before

> New SSL certificate was installed on the Monday

 

Maybe they need to hire more dedicated support staff like you

Then how does an SSL certificate expire for a production system? Current evidence doesn't seem to agree with your statement.

 

I usually replace them before they expire so that I don't look like a retard.

On the bright side, at least most staff will panic, not know what to do with the error and use it as an excuse not to log in. Risk mitigated.
