Trapper Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 (edited) Hello, My mouse wire has melted and started smoking this afternoon. Please can I have a new mouse? Thanks. The mouse has proper melted! The PC is an old Dell Optiplex from 2010. It is stored in a blue aluminum cabinet with doors. These pre-date me and I can't get the staff to stop using them! There in the Primary department of my special school, so the staff like to close the doors to stop the kids playing with the PC. In the past decade of my career I have never, never encountered anything like this at all! The PC has been pulled out, it's too much of a fire risk! I worry now that the building will burn down overnight! Sweet Zombie Jebus! http://i.imgur.com/XlIMPVS.jpg Edited July 19, 2016 by Trapper
Domino Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 well...there's your justification for the removal of those cabinets then?
southhamster Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Hmm. PS2 sockets used to have a small fuse on the motherboard to prevent things like this. Curious as I thought USB would current limit in the same sort of way.
Trapper Posted July 20, 2016 Author Posted July 20, 2016 My bad, it is a PS2 mouse. Our site chap pulled it out and took the photo after I'd left site. Oh yeah, those cabinets are gone.
