Arny Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Hello I was wondering if I could have some advice regarding changes to Nova T6. This relates to next year’s model. Back in March I worked through ‘Preparing for 2016/17 Using Nova-T6 and Options to Prepare the Timetable’ I fed through the structure only to SIMS for Sept. Options are now mainly finalised, however since working on the staffing I have come across requests to make changes i.e. Years 9, 10 and 11 to go from one band to two (i.e. Maths, English and Science) I am reluctant to make changes at the moment as I am concerned that this may affect things I have done in Options or will it just be a case of SQL the structure back into SIMS?
RootsSchImp Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Am I right to assume we're talking about options blocks that are unaffected by the bamd changes? Otherwise theyd vhange anyway. Ifso you should be fine. When you send through the new timetable use that orange matchy screen to tell sims that 10a/fr etc is now 10ab/fr. It's beem a while since ive used options but dpes it let you export class lists? If so you can do that as a back up, importing the memberships as .slk files if sims does spit the dummy aboug theh new model. 1
Arny Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 Thanks, I think you are right it should not affect the Options. I am new to Options so was a little concerned all the inputting may have been affected. I'm possibly more frustrated that staff have decided to change the agreed Nova T6 model at this late stage!
RootsSchImp Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Good luck - just to reiterate I'm not 100% that doing this won't mess with Options so I do recommend backing up your Options groups in Excel first if you can. Lots of sympathies re the model change - how much easier would running a school be without teachers??
Arny Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 Thanks - Will do, I have logged a call with support also, so await their input, but I will back up. Many (not all) do not understand the complexities of what goes on in the background!!
