[wds] Regional Settings

When I re-image machines, even though I select UK for everything, when the machine is back up, the region, language and keyboard is set to English (United States) and I spend quite a bit of time changing it back to UK.

 

When I go onto group policy on the server and go to user config | Preferences | Control Panel Settings | Regional Options and select 'new regional options' the location is greyed out.

 

 

The server is set to UK. Where are the clients picking up these settings? How can I stop them from trying to be american?

Is that pic how you're setting the UK part? Just it's red underlined which is normally "not enabled setting" for most GPOs

red wont do anything click in it and press f6 it should go green and work

Any of the "red/green" underlines mean a setting isn't enabled or is. As you could have lets say one part of the IE settings page enabled, and another disabled within the proxy

 

F5 = Enable all

F6 = Enable this one

F7 = Ignore this one

F8 = Ignore All

Thanks guys. I'm hoping this works when I reimage a machine. Shame it's under the user settings.... will this also change the keyboard?

Yep, it's nice for just fixing a few bits for different people without duplicating the entire GPO (As another example, just a few members who need staff proxy etc)

 

It's an annoying one as it doesn't say anywhere about the options, just remember them from my 2003 GPO fun!

 

Err if I remember right I used a regkey for changing keyboard languages (Some silly laptop with a written on weird layout!)

when imaging with wds you should be able to throw it a sysprep file with the regional options set to uk/gmt etc anyway shouldnt need to gpp it

 

bear in mind though i havnt used wds for imaging in years i just use it to boot mdt

I tried to do the unattend file once... might have to try again. I am looking at MDT moving forwards, because my new machines won't have LAN ports *scream*

ouch ive got some asus t100t's like that absolute swine to deal with to get 8.1 enterprise i just resorted to using as many usb drives as i could find and doing it manually

Well I boot from USB and then use a USB-LAN adaptor to image via MDT (y)

these are nasty tablet things so 32bit windows 8.1 and so on for 12 (and unfortunately later another 12) it seemed the easiest option and i have 1 usb to lan and its easy to find usb disks

Right just re-imaged a machine and initially it had US settings. When I changed its name, the date was the correct way around, the time was 12hr and the keyboard / Language was still set to US. Why is it doing this?! Pesky americans thinking their language is primary... pfff
