Hi,

Hoping you can help.

We currently have 80+ Macs present on our network. Each student has their own personal folder to save their work to. However, accessing this folder on Mac can be a real pain so I tried adding this folder to favourites so its always on the left hand side in finder and when opening a word or excel document, their personal folder is easy to get to.

The problem is that when a student logs on to another Mac, different to the one they were using the previous week, that folder is no longer there so it only seems to take this into account on the profile on Mac they were using last week.

My question is can this be applied right across so regardless of which Mac they use, profile stays the same and does not create a new profile each time they use a new machine.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks

Thanks for this. I will give this a try and let you know outcome.

Will this stop it from duplicating student profiles too when using different machines.

Sorry what is duplicating? the students home folder on the server? or the alias?

No their profile is duplicating on to each machine and is a fresh profile. Any changes made on 1 machine, it does not seem to reflect this on another students use.

For example accessing their personal folder is long winded going through folder after folder to get to.

However, I in turn added the students folder to favourites which is now easily accessible but when the student uses another machine it is a fresh profile as they have not used that machine before and folder is also not visible in fav.

Hope this makes sense.

It sort of makes sense. The students log onto another Mac they have never been on before and it doesn't transfer the settings from their profile.

The terminal command is done on the server through WGM and should push out to all macs on the network if they are in a Computer Group and binded to OD.
