Sibelius 8 Licence Server Issues

Hi,

We have having problems with our install of Sibelius 8. We get the following message after Sibelius has been running fine for part of the lesson. Open Sibelius again and its fine for a random amount of time.

 

"Sibelius is being closed down by the network Licence Server. You will be able to save your work before Sibelius exits."

 

Has anyone else seen this before?

I've had this before after I updated the server from V7 to V8 but it only happened the first time we connected to the server with our new Mac Suite. What does it look like from the side of the server when it occurs? Does the service stop or do you just see the client connection randomly disappear from the active clients list.

 

Edit: forgot to mention that it seemed to fix itself after it happened the first 2 or 3 times but the server had only been installed for a few minutes so we just put it down to the server not being started correctly.

Hi,

The server side seems happy. The clients drop from the list from what I can see. The licence server is a 2008R2 VMWare VM.

 

What should a happy licence server look like? Do clients send a 'good bye' message when Sibelius closes our do they just time out?

A happy server generally will be lag free since I found when I experienced the issue the license server control panel was lagging and the service status along with the server status both were showing incorrectly and the control panel kept becoming unresponsive.

 

As long as the GUI is showing everything as running and you have no issues navigating it I would say the server isn't the issue but to confirm this you could try running the test client connections under the server options to see if those also get dropped as if they do then it would show a server issue. If those clients stay connected however you could try reinstalling sib on the client machine but leave out any of the sound packs etc just to see how it runs on a fresh install.

I will run some test clients on the server. Do you run Sibelius over wired or wireless networks?
