[B]Field Based IT Network Engineer The Company[/B] Nexus Associates is an ICT consultancy that has been specialising in consultancy in the educational arena for over 12 years and has provided services to numerous academies and BSF programmes leading to successful implementations for our customers. We support our clients to develop an ICT rich environment from the initial building design through to the technical implementation and beyond by providing teacher training programmes that provide skills to staff enabling them to leverage the technology in the schools across the curriculum. <table> <tr> <td> [B]The Role[/B] The role requires someone who has excellent experience of designing, implementing, and troubleshooting network infrastructures. Day-to-day activities include an interesting variety of network infrastructure planning/implementation, consultancy support and end-user training. You will lead design and delivery of network solutions leading the search for new technologies and techniques, striving to find the best solutions to the required design criteria. You will be able to quickly and efficiently convert self gathered requirements into a full design and produce an enterprise level solution within the designed networking solution. You will have experience of articulating technical information to non-technical teams and individuals with a professional and approachable manner. [B]Main Duties / Responsibilities[/B] [LIST] [*]Create, request, and present technical specifications and requirements for procurement of new networking equipment [*]Provide Level 2 and Level 3 Support for networking incidents. You will also act as an escalation point for Level 1 and Level 2 support technicians [*]Provide Infrastructure support/implementation in all areas needed, including but not limited to: wide area network, local area network, firewalls, routers and WAN accelerators [*]Create and maintain comprehensive documentation relating to network topology, equipment, configuration, standards and procedures [*]Create designs, project plans, and implement these designs [*]Interface with third party vendors [*]Represent Nexus Associates in a professional and approachable manner [*]Stay current with vendor changes, developments, and updates [/LIST] [B]Knowledge, Skills & Experience[/B] [LIST] [*]The candidate will ideally have had at least 2 years’ demonstrable experience of deploying communications infrastructure and ideally a formal certificate in network engineering e.g. CCNA or HP ASE [*]Formal qualifications or equal experience within an IT discipline e.g. HND / Degree would be an advantage but are not essential. [*]Server infrastructure knowledge is beneficial but not essential. [/LIST] Demonstrable experience of the following; [LIST] [*]Troubleshooting and configuration of WAN/LAN [*]In depth knowledge of Cisco/HP LAN equipment [*]Configuration of Wi-Fi networks including centralised management [*]Network infrastructure design including link aggregation / trunking, switch stacking, redundancy, LAN topologies etc. [*]Physical cable patching of fibre and Ethernet [*]Experience and excellent understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, Routing, QoS/CoS, DNS [*]Network monitoring, troubleshooting and capacity planning [/LIST] Familiarity with: [LIST] [*]VMware [*]Server & Storage Hardware [*]Windows Server & Microsoft Active Directory [/LIST] [B]Personal Attributes[/B] The candidate will be interacting with clients and must therefore be: [LIST] [*]Conscientious with a high attention to detail [*]Confident, friendly and able to deal directly with client queries [*]Willing and able to learn new technologies [*]Self-motivated & self-disciplined. [*]Able to work well as part of a team [*]Able to manage personal workload and priorities and know when to ask for help [*]Flexible in approaching working schedule, since some activities may need to take place out of hours [*]Prepared for travel UK wide to support the setup / maintenance of network infrastructure [*]The candidate must have a valid UK driving licence and access daily to a car [/LIST] When not onsite you will work from home to complete activities as required to meet project deadlines.
