SIMS Backup

Hi Guys,

 

Before I go ahead and do some major work on the school servers tomorrow I would like to make sure I have a good backup of the following SQL Databases,

 

1. SIMS

2. Discover

3. Solus 3 (if Possible)

 

Is there and handy utilities etc out there or is there a command line etc ?? or in SIMS is it best to drop to the old System Manager and backup from there ??

Use sql management studio to back up the ldfs and mdf

Yeh it doesnt have that as the server is running SQL2012 Express.

You should still be able to use management studio.

 

Your best bet would be to use DBAttach as this should keep the login information.

Give support a call - often they'll be able to tell you, just thinking about Redstor (third party backup tool), if they use it - also thinks to check that often get overlooked, like b2b, groupcall xporter etc

I was just looking at that thanks Timbo as it looks like it will backup SIMS\Discover and the DS as well in one easy step.
