Search engine and image search for Primary school children?

This is probably something that is easily answered but I just haven't had to really deal with it before,.

 

Previous to me joining here the staff where all trained to use some "safe" image search site. The site is neither safe or particularly good (limited selection of images).

 

I'm not sure what would be best to setup/recommend? I already have google locked to safesearch which with the lightspeed filtering should block the majority of objectionable content but this is obviously not 100%.

 

I have found quite a few websites that are using a custom google search with added filtering on top but there are a lot out there so is anyone using any of these and can recommend them?

 

Its just a difficult position as I know whatever I tell them to use sooner or later something will get through and then it will come back to being my fault

We use Kidrex: KidRex - Kid Safe Search Engine

 

Works pretty well for us. I haven't seen any inappropriate sites returned as results, although sometimes they're not that relevant. For example a search for "girls" brings up mostly results about girls' clothes.
