SteveM555 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Hello, We have a newly setup SCCM server which is going great (so far)... We do have one slight issue though. Clients are receiving Forefront definition updates as they should and getting software packages/applications perfectly, they are, however connecting to Microsoft Update for Windows updates? (which we don't want!) Our old server with WSUS has been retired (old, slow and would occasionally BSOD) and we have setup a new WSUS server on the SCCM box which also seems to be working fine and downloading definition updates etc. as scheduled. We have modified the clients GPO to point to the new WSUS server and can confirm clients are receiving the GPO. On the configuration for the SUP it's set to 'Synchronize from an upstream data source location and it has it's own server name:8530" which is it's self. If WSUS is installed on the same server is that right? Can't quite seem to find why they are going to Microsoft Update rather than our WSUS/SCCM server Thanks for any help.
Steve21 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 If you want the SCCM server to download it locally and give it to clients you want Sync from Update. That's the server not clients. You've told it to update from itself You need to set the client settings then in the client section Steve

I have already set a Software Update schedule and 'Enable software update' on the client settings... Is there even a need to set the WSUS server in the GPO now?
Steve21 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 We don't use the GPO nope. Think only thing that's set in ours is the scheduled install time at like 5am, just in case for some reason the client etc doesn't install, then any auto restarts won't happen till nighttime Steve
