From 1967 to 1973 thirteen Saturn V rockets flew...

I was lucky enough to see the SL-3* launch. Only a Saturn 1b - the baby brother; but OMG!! We were miles from the pad, inside the base at a spectator viewing area, and the ground shook. My chest was vibrating... It was such a visceral thing; seems like yesterday, not 40 years ago.

 

 

*Second crew going up too Skylab. SL-1 was the space station, shown at the right hand edge of the clip above.

I love how if the guidance software in the IMU was this --> <-- out the S-V would actually run into the launch tower
